What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

My kid says go to Apple... all the perks none of the ****.... and no viruses..... I'm not going back to windows again... and having to pay each year over and over for the same program really makes me sick! Especially after running it for a year (after taking more than 3 months to get it to actually load on my machine and having to pay $100 FOR THEIR teck to go online with my computer for many hours to clean up the mess of trying to download WIn 8 caused on my new laptop... ) it still does not run correctly and my desk top is so slow I have to power it up 2 hours before I want to do anything... all because Windows has to go through all its checking for up dates... and when I'm done it is Itunes that I don;t use that is blocking my using the programs... only word excell that I need to .... and half the times these don;t want to work.....

SO I too am looking for some alternative! ANd don't get me started on printers... you can't even put the original disc and start a printer program and plun in the printer as the windows takes you off some where else.

CLOUD! Who wants the frigging cloud?????? I don't need to share my documents with any one ... but you can't get rid of the frigging cloud.. and yes ... give me my start up menu back and not have to get shifted all around the place and not be able to move from one document/program to another with out going through 50 steps!

I have been following this thread for a couple of months now. Personally I have not yet entered the nightmare world of the XBox style Windows 8, but I have had to use it on my wife's machine and god it is awful. The lack of Picture Manager on her machine was what led me here!

As a business user I find that from the word GO the functionality has just disintegrated - NO START BUTTON. NO START MENU!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO BACKUP FEATURE.

Don't worry about Picture manager - that is a fairly easy problem to solve. (BTW does anyone remember Photo Editor a much better product than Picture Manager in many ways, far more funtionallity in some areas, not as much in others, but typical Microsoft throwing out the baby with the bathwater.)

My basic problem - and I would appreciate some feedback - is what to do when I have to upgrade my hardware and the only option is Windows 8, a system that offers me NOTHING as I don't do "social networking", am not interested in music or video downloads, and, frankly, find their ancillary games to be childish and annoying!

Anyone got any idea about accessing an alternative to Windows - because let's face it - when the rest of you have to move to Windows 9, or whatever second rate rubbish Microsoft come up with next, you will probably have the same problem - the triumph of form over substance. And don't think for a moment that the return of Bill will change anything, he was after all, the **** who started all this and the development of 8 is a logical progression of the process that has been in train ever since Windows 98 - or even earlier.

Truth is that Microsoft don't give a toss about us - the users - because they have an effective monopoly, and their only interest is marketing to a younger and younger group who are basically moving to their phone anyway and to "touch screens" (another daft idea at the current level of technology) so the idea that they will pay the slightest attention to this (or any other) thread is basically ZERO.

You can't, not free like 2007.  AFIK, Picture manager did not change from 2007 to 2010, even though they have different version numbers.

I said in a previous post that I would try to persist with Photo Gallery and get back to the forum with my thoughts. I found PG to be clunky and not nearly as useful for my needs compared with Picture Manager.  It is not just a user resistance to change. It is a loss of functionality and usability.

I subsequently followed Rohn007's instructions to download Picture Manager through SharePoint and it worked well for me.

Thank you Rohn007 for sharing your knowledge with us. I appreciate your help pretty well every time I use Picture Manager.

It is a shame that Rohn007's posting cannot be placed at the beginning of the tread so that everyone can see it rather than having to trawl through 37 pages of postings. Hence my copying it again. 

If someone reads this and still wants to post their thoughts on the thread, it may be worthwhile doing their post as a reply to Rohn007's post including the quote so that people can readily find a solution.

All I can say is "Welcome back" as the company needs to resharpen its market edge. There have been some bad decisions in recent years. The feedback is here. All they have to do is look.
