What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use.  I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.  

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".  

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

    I have tried the offered Picture programs and none of them have the functionality of Office picture manager - specifically  - with Manager I could go into a folder, select a jpg image, crop and resize it, correct brightness and save the edited picture with a new name.  This would take two to three minutes and was very easy.  I could at the same time have my folder visible on the screen so I could locate the next jpg that needed work, I would then have the original image still available and the edited one.

    Try the free online PicMonkey.com  It lets you do it all easily.

    I have tried the offered Picture programs and none of them have the functionality of Office picture manager - specifically  - with Manager I could go into a folder, select a jpg image, crop and resize it, correct brightness and save the edited picture with a new name.  This would take two to three minutes and was very easy.  I could at the same time have my folder visible on the screen so I could locate the next jpg that needed work, I would then have the original image still available and the edited one.  I could also keep my main database open in case the details of the image necessitated changes.   I can not find a program now that will do that.  In the month since getting a windows 8 computer I have built up a backlog of well over thousand files that need this processing.  BUt having to switch from one application to another and back and forth between the app screen and the desktop has slowed the process to a trickle.

    If I were only handling one or two jpgs at a time, it wouldn't be so bad but when it's hundreds......

    Photo - won't let me save with a new name or keep another folder visible on the screen- in fact it is very awkward to get back to my folder as it keeps insisting that I want it in Pictures

    Gallery - won't save the edited version as a new picture, but instead overwrites the original

    Paint is far too cumbersome for the level of editing I need although it is great for editing pixel by pixel

    Powerpoint really is not an option for this sort of bulk processing.  Neither is Word

    Just upgraded from Office 2010 and really miss this.

    Wake up Microsoft, this was one of the best basic picture editors around!
