I've worked as a computer consultant for 20 years. I have to say that Office 365 is the LEAST user friendly product I've ever seen. Impossible to do do simply things that in other products are intuitive. Right now I'm trying to export my contact list. When I search on this topic all the examples say something like go to OUTLOOK -> FILE --> OPTIONS --> ADVANCED.   After an hour of searching I dont find anything in outlook that says file . I find options but not Advanced and nothing else that leads to exporting

Hi Steve,

I will assist you with the query you have in exporting contacts from Outlook 365.

You may follow the steps below to Export the Outlook contacts:

Open Outlook, click File, Open and export and then click Export to a file.

Once you are in the import\Export window follow the on screen instructions to export the items from Outlook.

If you want to import the data into Outlook, then you may refer to the direction mentioned in the link below:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/import-contacts-HA102919678.aspx

Note: Instead of Import, you need to look for the Export option in the above link.

I hope the above information helps. If you need any assistance reply and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you.

    So many variations here....

Outlook Thick client, Outlook Web client, Office 365 user, Outlook.com user, Mac/Windows...

I will provide the solution for a personal account on Outlook.com

    1. Click on the "squares" to the left of the word "Outlook.com" on the top of the page
    2. Select "People" from the options presented
    3. A new tab will open in the web browser with the "People" app showing all your contacts
    4. Select the "Manage" item on the tool bar to reveal the drop down list
    5. Click on "Export for Outlook.com and other services" to download a CSV file (comma separated file) that can be (potentially) imported into other services or products (like Excel)

    Good luck...

Maybe this will help someone. I found this link:

    http://support.outboundengine.com/hc/en-us/articles/203624504-How-to-export-contacts-from-Office-365-Outlook-Web-Access

Now, I haven't tested this, but it looked good. I'm almost sorry to even possibly bring this thread to a conclusion. It has been quite entertaining.

    Good luck.

What if you don't have outlook?  What if it was a exchange account .ost file instead of a .pst?  There are tons of problems with companies trying to hold our information hostage.  Make it simple to change services and everyone can do it.  They want to force you to stay with their inferior product.

It is now Aug 5, 2015 and I just exported my contacts from office365.com (outlook.office365.com) to a CSV file. BUT I am an admin. Looks like you have to be an admin to be able to do this. You do not have to download the desktop version of Outlook (which is where the stupid FILE option is. lol).

Go to your ribbon, click on admin, and then scroll down on the left side to ADMIN, and then click on Exchange, and then under recipients, click contacts.

Click on the 3 dots (above DISPLAY NAME) for the more menu, and then Export data to a CSV file. It will bring up a new pop up window. Select the columns of data you want and then click EXPORT at the bottom. I'm going to assume you know how to save a file to your target folder.

    Voila!

    HTH
