exporting contacts FROM Outlook 365

I've worked as a computer consultant for 20 years. I have to say that Office 365 is the LEAST user friendly product I've ever seen. Impossible to do do simply things that in other products are intuitive. Right now I'm trying to export my contact list. When I search on this topic all the examples say something like go to OUTLOOK -> FILE --> OPTIONS --> ADVANCED.   After an hour of searching I dont find anything in outlook that says file . I find options but not Advanced and nothing else that leads to exporting

Hi Steve,

I will assist you with the query you have in exporting contacts from Outlook 365.

You may follow the steps below to Export the Outlook contacts:

Open Outlook, click File, Open and export and then click Export to a file.

Once you are in the import\Export window follow the on screen instructions to export the items from Outlook.

If you want to import the data into Outlook, then you may refer to the direction mentioned in the link below:

Note: Instead of Import, you need to look for the Export option in the above link.

    You may have the ribbon set to auto hide. Look in the top right for an icon that looks like an arrow pointing straight up in a box. Click that and choose 'Show Tabs and Commands'. Then you should be okay.

    Hi Deepa,

    I'm with Steve on this one.  My copy of Outlook 365 does NOT have an icon with FILE on it.  I would love you to tell me where I can find the FILE option

    This method worked for me. Open Outlook (whichever version you've been using that has all your contacts in it) and choose File - Import and Export. From here you need to export your contact list to a .csv file. (Comma separated values). Btw, it does preserve your notes if you have them. This was important to my customer. You'll end up with a file something.csv.

    Once you've created this .csv file you can then import your contacts into your Office 365. I did it by using the Outlook Web App. Once signed in choose Outlook at the top. Once your in the Outlook web app click the gear at the top right.  Choose Option from the drop down list.

    You should be in Options now with account selected on the left side. On the right under 'shortcuts to other things you can do you'll see 'import your contacts from an existing email account'. Choose this.

    You will be asked for the location of the .csv file you created earlier. Point to this and click  Next.

    This should get you where you want to be.

    I never saw an email telling me that you had responded. I'm just seeing this now that someone else has raised the same issue.

    If you had actually read my question before you responded you will notice that I had already found examples that say to do exactly what you are saying to do . I quoted this is my original post.   And I can tell you it simply is not true. I spend much time searching and clicking on various things. There is no option in my version of outlook that says "file"
