exporting contacts FROM Outlook 365

I've worked as a computer consultant for 20 years. I have to say that Office 365 is the LEAST user friendly product I've ever seen. Impossible to do do simply things that in other products are intuitive. Right now I'm trying to export my contact list. When I search on this topic all the examples say something like go to OUTLOOK -> FILE --> OPTIONS --> ADVANCED.   After an hour of searching I dont find anything in outlook that says file . I find options but not Advanced and nothing else that leads to exporting

Hi Steve,

I will assist you with the query you have in exporting contacts from Outlook 365.

You may follow the steps below to Export the Outlook contacts:

Open Outlook, click File, Open and export and then click Export to a file.

Once you are in the import\Export window follow the on screen instructions to export the items from Outlook.

If you want to import the data into Outlook, then you may refer to the direction mentioned in the link below:

Note: Instead of Import, you need to look for the Export option in the above link.

    I can certainly relate Brandon. We just changed over email hosting to a local server and the administrator made it where Outlook 356 desktop client will NEVER connect to Microsoft for email and since it has synced to the new local server it is like starting from scratch with no previous emails or contacts. So the ONLY way I can get previous emails and contacts is from Outlook 365 Web App through Internet Explorer. There are a dozen or so people here that are in the same boat. Now I am trying to export my mail and/or contacts from only within the Outlook 365 Web App because any desktop app would NEVER connect to my Web App for me to download the emails or contacts.

    Hopefully there is a solution or workaround for this otherwise a whole year's worth of emails and contacts will be gone. Oh, BTW we are discontinuing service with Microsoft Exchange by the end of this month so if I don't get back ever.

    Good grief, Raju! Let me see if I can lay this out plain and simple for you. How does a person export contacts from Outlook 365 to a CSV file? When I say "Outlook 365," I am referencing the Outlook Web Application, NOT the installed Outlook program on Windows or Mac.

    Let me rephrase in case I am not clear. When I click on the Firefox icon on my desktop and then log into Outlook 365 in my Firefox browser, how do I export my contacts from the Outlook Web Application running in my Firefox browser to a CSV file?

    This whole thread is quite amusing on multiple levels. First, Microsoft's naming scheme for its Outlook products is so confusing that even Microsoft engineers have absolutely no idea what anyone is talking about. Second, the reading comprehension, or lack thereof, of people purporting to "answer" the question is mind-boggling. Third, how can a company develop an app that includes an import function but does not include an export function? I was a programmer for 20 years. That doesn't happen by accident.

    Perhaps M$ is trying to keep us from moving to another email app. I'm not. I'm just trying to move my contacts from my email account provided by my school to another outlook.com account. I at least have a Mac with Outlook installed, but I guess Microsoft's stance for the rest of you is, "It sucks to be you."

    M$ generally sucks a lot and this pseudo-product Office 365 or or OWA (oh my god!) sucks much more.

    You can only import contacts by CSV file but you can't export anything... is the only one strategy by M$ "become the captive user"

    Is there anyone in microsoft programming something useful?
