Rearranging the order of pages in Word 2010

In Word 2010  can you sort pages like you can sort pages in Powerpoint by simply dragging and dropping ?  If not by dragging and dropping, how?

Nope.

Word is a text flow program. It prints text on pages but doesn't really organize by page. Powerpoint is a slide show program. It does organize by slides.

You can cut and paste text.

If you have used heading styles to organize your document, you can use the navigation pane to move logical sections around.

If each page begins with a heading  formatted with a page break before (instead of a manual page break between pages), you can switch to outline view, collapse the view to the heading level used at the tops of pages (say, heading 1), and move (by dragging or by cutting and pasting) the headings.  The content under the heading will move with them.  Also in outline view, you can sort the headings.   When cutting in outline view, you must include the heading's paragraph mark so that subheads and text will be included in the cut.  

The navigation pane also allows you to collapse or expand the heading levels shown and to drag headings to rearrange, but as far as I know, you cannot cut and paste to move headings and you cannot sort them.

    I disagree with your comment that 99.99 % doesn't care about moving the pages.  I know of MANY individuals that would like this feature.  You are basing your decision on the amount of people that will take the time to log on and ask the question. Most users will just use Google and move on.  It is an inconvenience to take the time and comment so I would be bold to say that 99.99% of the users will just move on and you are basing your conclusions on the few.

    I am not debating the reason Word will not re-arrange pages only your remark on the percentages of users that would care to have the ability to move pages.  I for one would like it. I am quite sure if I was to poll the 30,000 students at the small university I an attending I will get a larger response that .01% you are claiming.

    Hi, Thanks for this info.   I was wondering how I could move around content without having to insert copied material directly in between other material in the Print Layout view, which would mean fiddling around with the alignment a lot. Your solution worked for me!

    That's a wonderful way to destroy a document's structure. All auto-numbering, Styles, paragraphs flowing over page breaks, headers, footers, footnotes, etc., etc. all destroyed in a few simple steps. Wow.
