I am very frustrated please let me know what to do ?

Thanks,

Mohit Bhargava

I suspect, but cannot prove, that article is flawed. In all previous versions of Office, simply doing an uninstall will NOT prevent this error. The only thing I know of to prevent the error is a complete re-install of WINDOWS.

That's correct I did re-install of office 3-4 times .. even after having the original key. I was getting the same error.

I DID orginally have Office installed but did a system restore to elude an issue with a 3rd Party Program.  For myself, I had both a 'Program Files' and a 'Program Files (x86)' set of folders.  I found the pathway inside the '(x86)' having the folders that needed to be deleted.  I found both 'OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform' and the 'OFFICE15' folders as well.  I deleted the 'OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform' first, and that did not work.  I then deleted the 'OFFICE15' folder, only to be prompted that I need to be an Admin to delete the folder.  Once I deleted the folder successfully, then went back through the install process, I was good to go.

    DO NOT REINSTALL WINDOWS!!!!

    Just delete OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform in the

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared folder.

If you cant just cut the folder and put it somewhere else and then delete as much of it as possible.

After that stop the service   Software Protection.

NOW TRY AGAIN TO OPEN WORD etc AND IT SHOULD WORK!!!

Open Task Manager and Kill Explorer and Open Commnad Prompt as Admin from Task Manager. Go to "cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared" and rmdir /s OFFICE15 and same for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared" folder.
