i keep getting this when trying to install Office 365: 'something went wrong. Office can't do that right now because your product is busy with another task. Please wait for this task to complete and try again.'  I have already completed the fix to uninstall other Office products and i have performed a clean boot, but still the same problem....  please help i'm getting desperate!

    Hi all,

I eventually fixed my problem "something went wrong" message etc by following the link from Gina Whipp (thanks Gina) which is an Office online repair: Http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2827031

Office was already there on my list of programs so it must have installed itself, albeit in an incomplete way.  the online repair fixed the problem and the installation completed.

Microsoft.... lots and lots of people seem to have this "something went wrong" or "busy with another product" message which suggests it is a bug in the software rather than user or hardware error.   Can you prevent the frustration of many future customers by fixing this please?!

    RT

Thanks but I think you are referring to a different error message.  I have no problem signing in, the error is something to do with the 'product being busy with another task'   can you suggest a solution specifically for that please?

    Give this a try:

    …Office is Busy…

<snip> I have been having this problem, as well.  While performing an installation repair operation has worked for me, it has taken a lot of time, and requires closing and re-opening all of my Office applications.  A post on another thread mentioned a better solution that has worked for me: Simply stop or restart the "Microsoft Office Service".  You can do this by using the Control Panel Services applet.  It seems to have resolved the problem within seconds, and it is much less disruptive (though not nearly as nice as a real fix for the problem).  I hope this helps. </snip>

Note: another person reported they had to turn the service on and off a few times before it worked.
