Publisher 2013 - Print and PDF Quality issue for embedded Excel.

When I print or export to a PDF, the embedded Excel documents in my Publisher 2013 document do not have crisp, clear text. However exactly the same document under Office 2010 they look and print fine. I have an example of a PDF created from the same Publisher document, one in 2010 (on the left), one in 2013 (on the right) which I have uploaded that clearly demonstrate the issue. Is this a known bug, or a font issue with Office 2013? I work at a University where we have an enterprise licence for Office 2013 so are only just considering to roll it out to staff currently, but if this is an issue we will have to wait for a fix.

    I just upgraded to Office 2013 and unfortunately have encountered the same issues with embedded excel cells - at least I found this forum. Are there any updates on this issue?

    Sorry, but no I have not heard of any fixes from MSFT. From the other responses you got it doesn't sound like anyone else has seen much improvement either.

    I tried primopdf.com which prints out the file in a clear manner, although as viewed from the screen only, it looks terrible.

    Here's some findings related to embedding excel data in a publisher file and converting to PDF:

    Office 2010

    Excel>Publisher>Save as PDF

    Viewing on the screen and printing the file was clear, with a file size of 477kb

    Office 2013

    Excel>Publisher>Save as PDF

    Viewing on the screen and printing the file resulted in blurry figures and charts that were embedded from excel; file size of 588kb

    Excel>Publisher>Print to PrimoPDF>Save as PDF using the Print setting

    Viewing on the screen horribly distorts the embedded data, but printing the file was just as clear as Office 2010; file size of 2.2M

    I tried all the various PrimoPDF print options, but none provided a clear viewing experience on the screen. Also, I'm using Ariel fonts on a 64bit Windows 7 Pro.

    Anyone have any other suggested workarounds for viewing/printing in a clear manner?

    Did you try saving the Excel data as a higer resolution .png image and inserting it the image?

    Don't forget that you have options on the quality of the pdf produced by the office pdf tool. Be sure to try 'high quality printing'.

    I've tried everything but there is no workarounds for viewing/printing in a clear manner with Publisher 2013.

    I currently use Publisher 2013 to work on Publications with high zoom and Publisher 2010 for print.

    I spent a week with Microsoft tech people proving that this is an issue. After that time they accepted it is a problem and said they will try and fix it. This was now over six months ago, so either it's proving difficult to fix or we may be finally seeing a fix coming out soon.
