Publisher 2013 - Print and PDF Quality issue for embedded Excel.

When I print or export to a PDF, the embedded Excel documents in my Publisher 2013 document do not have crisp, clear text. However exactly the same document under Office 2010 they look and print fine. I have an example of a PDF created from the same Publisher document, one in 2010 (on the left), one in 2013 (on the right) which I have uploaded that clearly demonstrate the issue. Is this a known bug, or a font issue with Office 2013? I work at a University where we have an enterprise licence for Office 2013 so are only just considering to roll it out to staff currently, but if this is an issue we will have to wait for a fix.

    Hi,

    Sorry to necro post here,

I have had the same issue with the PDF and Excel files coming out blurry.

I have Office 365 Home premium and the hotfixes do not apply to this product.

I have every Office 365 update to January this year (they apply automatically) in the hope that the Hotfixes might have been included but to no avail.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Fay

Why do you say that the hotfix that has been linked above at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2760434  does not apply to your product? Publisher 2013 is part of Office 365.

I would set a system restore point on your computer in case something goes wrong and then download, save to your computer, and run the hotfix as per the Knowledge base.

Let us know if it fixes the problem or you have any problems. Thanks.

Ok, I spoke to the Technical support people here in Australia,

they say they are aware of the problem and that it is is the hands of the Development team and they will incorporate the fix into an update WHEN it is completed.

SO I am still left with fuzzy PDFs until then. Off to find a workaround.

    Cheers,

    Fay

Don't be worried about bringing this thread back from the dead. This was an issue that took us a very long time to even get acknowledged as a genuine serious fault with Publisher 2013 and if it still persists within the Office 365 version then MS need to be made aware of it. In the end the only way I was able to get the message across was with a lengthy conversation over the phone with their support team who then passed it directly to the devs and asked for documents to test it out. Finally they realised they could easily reproduce it too and fixed it, I'm not sure why the fix hasn't been pushed to 365 though so it would be well worth chasing them up with the specific fix issued here if we can find the actual reference for you.

    Hi,

I raised a case for this with MS in early 2013.  I have recently had confirmation that it has been fixed.  See this KB article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2760434

I haven't tested it yet, as due to the delay in resolving the issue, we have had to use another solution.

    Regards,

    Graeme

I love you! The fix works!

    Finally! Thanks!

Excellent - thanks for letting us know.
