Office 2013; office account signin feature 'disabled' after upgrade

I have just upgraded from Office 2010 Pro Plus to Office 2013 Pro Plus and none of the Office 2013 apps (including OneNote 2013) will connect to my skydrive account so I cannot access my OneNote notebooks and so on. I just see a window with the message 'This feature has been disabled by your administrator', however no group policy for Office or indeed anything else has been applied. What could be causing this failure?

Ok I resovled this issue but its a weird one and could be an issue with the upgrade from 2010.

I used procmon.exe to find out which reg keys outlook.exe was htting when I clicked the Sign In button (which triggered my issue) and found this was the key in question:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet:UseOnlineContent

UseOnlineContent was set to 0 (zero) and so I changed it to 1 (one) and after restarting my Office 2013 products I was able to sign in to Skydrive using them.

I hope this will be of help to anyone experiencing a similar problem.

Cheers,

Tim

    Hi

I did the same thing and set the DWORD to 1 (it was 2) and I still have the same issue,

it does ask me to connect to the internet, when I click yes, I then get the blocked Administrator message.

    Thanks

    Mate,

check this out.  I changed my setting from 3 to 0 and now I can login & sync.

To change the Office 2013 logon types offered to the user

    1. From Registry Editor, browse to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\SignIn\SignInOptions
    2. Set the value of SignInOptions to one of the following:

    Office 2013 SignInOptions values

    | SignInOptions value | Value type | Description |
    | --- | --- | --- |
    | 0 | DWORD | (Default) This displays both the user's Microsoft account ID and the organization ID that is assigned by Microsoft as their logon identity options. |
    | 1 | DWORD | This only displays their Microsoft account ID. |
    | 2 | DWORD | This only displays their organization ID. |
    | 3 | DWORD | This does not display either ID type. The user will be unable to log on. If you set SignInOptions to 3, and a user triggers the logon page, no ID types will be offered to the user. Instead, the message “Sign in has been disabled” is displayed. |

My issue is solved.  I found my IT security has GPOs to block access to SkyDrive.  They are allowing picture uploads but no documents. So setting registry settings will get reset when GPO reapplied by them.  Blocking access to SkyDrive (which only set for Office 2013, that's why I didn't see it previously)  also caused issues with SkyDrive Pro and Opening documents in Office 365.  They are going to allow me an exception.  I'll try to get their specific settings and post here.

thanks dude! you saved my day. it worked for me.

    i didn't have UseOnlineContent under regedit>.....15>Comman>Internet.

i did create one and gave the 1 and also tried 2. But it didn't work for me.

then tried your solution and now i can successfully sync my workbooks with skydrive.

    Thanks,

    Mustafa
