Arrow keys don't work in slide view mode in powerpoint

My powerpoint used to work fine but recently I am unable to advance or move my slides backwards in the Slide view mode with arrow keys, space bar and return.  Nothing seems to work.  I cannot even exit the presentation with the ESC key.  I need to use the cursor to exit presentation.  Because of this situation, I cannot use the remote control to advance my slides.  PLS HELP!!!

I have fixed the problem on my side following these steps:

  • Open the "Slide show" tab in the ribbon
  • Click on "Set Up Slide Show"
  • Make sure that following options are selected "Show type" = presented by the speaker (full screen) and "Advance slides" = manually

    In PowerPoint 2016, go to Slide Show > Setup Slide Show. In the Set Up Show Window, go to Show Type and check Presented by speaker. Once you do that, the Advance slides section to your right will activate (no longer greyed out). Click ok and you're done.

    Delete the whole Office

    Install again

    Load the updates

    There are some updates you need to take before the others..

    My last one, like I said: 14.2.3

    Again: I don´t know, if the 14.3.0 would be ok, but I´m just too tired to try..

    Forget about the 14.3.1, even if it didn´t cause the problem, it didn´t solve it!

    Works perfectly!

    It happens with all slides and only started about a week ago.  Not sure why this suddenly occurred.  Let me try your recommendation.

    Hi Floff

    Has the problem been around all the time?  It was working well for a long time and then only last week it started acting up.  Very inconvenient to manage slides!  I will read and try what Arshad recommended to see whether it helps.
