Change Background color Theme Office 2013

Thanks for you answer. But I have a small problem: I try as your advice but only word 2013 couldn't save my setting when I exit while excel and powerpoint could. Is there any solution? I don't want to reinstall office 2013 again!

The company I work for just instaled 2013 in my computer and I got here while searching for a fix to the overly bright themes.

I suffer from severe eyesight problems and bright screens get me REALLY tired REALLY fast. Tired to the point of not being able to keep working because looking at the screen from that point on, is like geting sand thrown into my eyes. That's how tired. That's the reason why I keep everything (menus, wallpapers, etc) black as as dark as possible.

Having red the thread, I now realise changing the color scheme to something I can work with is a lost cause. The thread is 3 years old with, as far as I was able to find (sorry didn't read through the all thing), ONE answer from Microsoft staff. Three all years gone by and they couldn't care less about this matter. This will remain as is. That much is clear to me.

Another thing that's clear to me is: They are aware of the problem, they can fix it but they WONT (for whatever reason). Maybe they are trying to push us towards 365 or 2016... who knows.  As far as I'm concerned, the only thing Microsoft is pushing me towards to is LibreOffice and Thunderbird. All that remains is geting the OK from my boss.

 You are right are pretty much right about every thing your comment.

About six months ago, which was roughly a little more then year since I left my former employmer and my copy that I had gotton from them stop working. I tried working with Google Doc's.  It is ohso ever close to be a quality replacement to Microsoft, but most of my clients need Excel and Access file. Another year or two, the direction Microsoft has been moving and their lousy customer service, Google Doc's might over take them and best of all, it's free.

Anyway, my wife and I broke down and bought Office 365 and before the updates, there was little difference, but after the updates, Mircosoft cheered and padded themselves on their back and they exclaimed how they listened to its consumers. They added Black as an option. Black is much easier to work in, but still, I would have prefer to have been able

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community. It is unfortunate that you are unable to locate the option in Office 2013 to change the theme of applications. Let me help you with the issue.

For the Office 2013 (RTM) version you may follow the below steps:

1. Go to the File tab
2. Click on Options
3. Choose the General tab on the left
4. Find the ‘O ffice Theme’ dropdown item
5. Choose between White, Light Gray, and Dark Gray.

If you have Office 2013 preview version installed, then you have an option to change the background color by clicking on File, Options, General and under the group 'Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office', you may choose the background you wish to change to and click ok.

If you are using preview version of Office then you have a Smiley on the top right hand side of the application, you may click on it and send in your feedback.

STOP II! Stop cutting and this and pasting this same BS solution. 99.999% of your customers are aware of to change the color to one these useless choices. The fact that you have been answering to everyones' complaint with is same tired non helpful non solution supports the belief that Microsoft doesn't care about its cunsumer of this product.

something that would help would be Microsoft has heard your complaint, and we are working on resolving the issue or Microsoft does not see this as an use that needs to be addressed.

However, the same auto-response for more then 3 years pointless and insulting.
