Change Background color Theme Office 2013

Has anyone come up with how to Change the Color on the Office 2013 Them from "gray".  Microsoft has really not been user friendly with Windows 8 or Office 2013 in enabling the user to change their environment.

I think Microsoft does not read these forum questions.  Otherwise, some of the technical people would be contacting their customers to gain feedback.

I am extremely disappointed in the Office 13 and Win8 programs. 

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community. It is unfortunate that you are unable to locate the option in Office 2013 to change the theme of applications. Let me help you with the issue.

For the Office 2013 (RTM) version you may follow the below steps:

  1. Go to the File tab
  2. Click on Options
  3. Choose the General tab on the left
  4. Find the ‘O ffice Theme’ dropdown item
  5. Choose between White, Light Gray, and Dark Gray.

If you have Office 2013 preview version installed, then you have an option to change the background color by clicking on File, Options, General and under the group 'Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office', you may choose the background you wish to change to and click ok.

If you are using preview version of Office then you have a Smiley on the top right hand side of the application, you may click on it and send in your feedback.

    If someone is interested in upgrading to 20013, I will tell them it's not worth it!  The limited color contrast reminds me of programs that were available in the '80's during my MBA school days.

    The contrast of white, light gray or dark gray isn't enough for me in outlook. I found it harder to read emails.  I went back to Office 2007. Love the color selection and contrast in this version. Blue is easier on my eyes.

    precisely what I did and have done within out network. Until they make it easier on the eyes and more customizable, we will be sticking with 2007 and 2010.. Unreal that they would leave it sit like this.. Perhaps we will start testing one of the open source solutions out there.. :(

    Totally understand. The features seem to be intriguing.  I found that I don't want to spend to learn them. I want to exit the programs right away.  :(

    Seriously, is there any place we can read the designers point of view for making the Office 2013 design? I am sure most of us try to be open for new things, but Office 2013 is just ... Well it is close to be the worst interface I have ever seen. It almost seems like the designers agreed to do all the DON'Ts for this product.

    I have used Office 2013 for a weekend and it was a HUGE relief being back on my work computer with Office 2010. The difference is so big it should be odvious for even the poorest designer:

    See the first screenshot of Word? Look at it for 5-10 seconds (if the pain in your eyes does not force you to look away before that).

    Scroll down to the 2010 screenshots of various products. You can actually FEEL your eyes relaxing by looking at the other colors.

    What in the world wen't through the minds of Microsoft making the Office 2013 layout? Who did this? Did ANYONE at Microsoft even test the design and what thoughts was behind using it? Was it by force in a panic moment just to be different or did the designers actually think this layout was BETTER?

    As said, this is closed to being the worst interface I have ever seen. It just forces you away. It does exactly what it should NOT do.

    Bottom line; WHAT HAPPEND?
