Change Background color Theme Office 2013

Would like to join my voice to all who suffer of the unpleasant results of office 2013 themes. Office 2013 are finally the only 'ugly' applications on Win7 or Win8. Really a pitty.

Microsoft 'deaf attitude' towards users' requests is more and more frequent.

WHERE DO THEY WANT TO GO TODAY?!

Kind of reminds me of my ISP service where British Telecom Customer & Technical Service have a language all of their own it's called "GIBBERISH"

Now Microsoft have a similar language of their own called "TECHNICLAIUS GIBERISHAREIIUS" and have a new highly contagious  disease, only know to affect MS Staff  call "IGNORIUS USERARIUS" the suffer of this affliction is also known to be able to fluently speak two new language the fist "BULLSHITIUS BAFFULLIUS BAIRNIUS" with the second being "TECHNIUS REPAETIARIUS" or the constant irresistible urge copy and past useless, unrelated and unhelpful information that has noting to do with the complaint or problem.

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community. It is unfortunate that you are unable to locate the option in Office 2013 to change the theme of applications. Let me help you with the issue.

For the Office 2013 (RTM) version you may follow the below steps:

1. Go to the File tab
2. Click on Options
3. Choose the General tab on the left
4. Find the ‘O ffice Theme’ dropdown item
5. Choose between White, Light Gray, and Dark Gray.

If you have Office 2013 preview version installed, then you have an option to change the background color by clicking on File, Options, General and under the group 'Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office', you may choose the background you wish to change to and click ok.

If you are using preview version of Office then you have a Smiley on the top right hand side of the application, you may click on it and send in your feedback.

I am one of the old timers that began with DOS, WordPerfect, Lotus and dBase. If I wanted to access the internet, I had to give up my phone line. I hated the mouse and I preferred the short cut keys and I still do. Since Windows 95, Microsoft continued to dumb down all their products. Each new updated product, it is targeted to the lowest common user and they have made it harder for power users to tweak their software. Even on my home computer, I had to a buy third party software to tweak my system the way I wanted it, since Microsoft has made those setting hard to nearly impossible to find.

Personally, I hate the ribbon bar and I refused to upgrade my home system until recently my office upgraded to Office 2010. Later, I founded out that they were going to upgrade to Office 2013 until the read all the complaints about the color scheme: wishing I had.

My wife got a deal through her employer to upgrade our home computers to Office 2013. So, we upgraded. Personally, I can live with the change, and there are some features that I do like (access to the cloud (SkyDrive), but its look and feel is clumps. My grandson’s Leap Frog has a better UI.

Yes, Deepa Raj, I found the only color choice, Dark Grey, in less than 5 seconds, because I could not bear to look at a blinding white screen any longer. It was the very first thing I did. BTW, calling it Dark Grey is a lie or your design team is color blind. When I right click on a word or cell and the mouse pop up comes up and it is hard to tell which option is greyed out, you should know you have a problem.

All these people and 10’s of thousands more who will not post of this forum, want is the ability to choose their own setup for their version of Office. The dark grey I can live with but, I should not have to.

Deepa Raj, ignoring these people concerns with the same insulting form response, is disrespectful and unprofessional. If you worked for me, you would be fired. If Microsoft is going to continue down this path, it may be time to buy a Mac. Also, Google is making some impressive advances in their open source Office and the best thing about it, its free.

I'm disappointed in the color scheme as well. It causes me eye strain and headaches. It's good product over all but they need to listen to customer's and stop telling me what I should like. 

Put the dam start button back on the desktop while your at it. Microsoft is making the same mistake Coke did when the change the formula to Coke. Microsoft has the most productive and popular OS interface in the world. Now they're hiding controls and making the products harder to use for the casual user. If you added the touch Tab interface and kept the Windows 7 desktop you would have a great product. We're not all power users and have real lives. The computer is a tool and good tools are easy to use. I'm wasting too much time learning to use a computer again.
