Change Background color Theme Office 2013

Has anyone come up with how to Change the Color on the Office 2013 Them from "gray". Microsoft has really not been user friendly with Windows 8 or Office 2013 in enabling the user to change their environment.

I think Microsoft does not read these forum questions. Otherwise, some of the technical people would be contacting their customers to gain feedback.

I am extremely disappointed in the Office 13 and Win8 programs.

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community. It is unfortunate that you are unable to locate the option in Office 2013 to change the theme of applications. Let me help you with the issue.

For the Office 2013 (RTM) version you may follow the below steps:

Go to the File tab
Click on Options
Choose the General tab on the left
Find the ‘O ffice Theme’ dropdown item
Choose between White, Light Gray, and Dark Gray.

If you have Office 2013 preview version installed, then you have an option to change the background color by clicking on File, Options, General and under the group 'Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office', you may choose the background you wish to change to and click ok.

If you are using preview version of Office then you have a Smiley on the top right hand side of the application, you may click on it and send in your feedback.

if you don't want it, change to linux. or download open office

I agree - need to do something about the holographic format and coloring....hard on the eyes.

You can use gmail. it also has a white background but there is enough contrasts that your eyes or head do not hurt.

Sicne they don't read these forums...

And we've been complaining for OVER 2 years...

2013 version is getting relatively old.

Like for Windows 8, I don't think they would fix any of the issues. They've had the start menu available in windows 8.0 preview. Then removed it for official release. Then brount it back, but just before 8.1 release they decided to remove it on-purpose. Then announced it would be back in 8.1 update 1. Then changed idea again. They just want to keep good features for next release to give people a reason to upgrade at extra cost.

I bet they would only release new themes for the 2015 edition (not before). But even that "Office Next" version there is not even a BETA available yet. Neither any indication if they will fix it in next release or not.

Again today I convinced a friend to avoid 2013 edition entirely. Having 3 monitors (4886 pixels wide) full of white is too painful. Wasn't hard to convince I just sent him a screenshot of outlook 2013. ;-)

Even if they fix the color theme in Office 2015, I doubt they will remove all the "wasted space" introduced with 2013 edition to make it touch friendly. Shame for desktop users. 1/2 inch blank space between every single PST account in folder pane. Just bought 2560x1600 monitor and still need to scroll up and down a lot to see all my mailboxes in 2013. Keeping 2010 version with black theme enabled !!!
