Change Background color Theme Office 2013

Has anyone come up with how to Change the Color on the Office 2013 Them from "gray".  Microsoft has really not been user friendly with Windows 8 or Office 2013 in enabling the user to change their environment.

I think Microsoft does not read these forum questions.  Otherwise, some of the technical people would be contacting their customers to gain feedback.

I am extremely disappointed in the Office 13 and Win8 programs. 

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community. It is unfortunate that you are unable to locate the option in Office 2013 to change the theme of applications. Let me help you with the issue.

For the Office 2013 (RTM) version you may follow the below steps:

  1. Go to the File tab
  2. Click on Options
  3. Choose the General tab on the left
  4. Find the ‘O ffice Theme’ dropdown item
  5. Choose between White, Light Gray, and Dark Gray.

If you have Office 2013 preview version installed, then you have an option to change the background color by clicking on File, Options, General and under the group 'Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office', you may choose the background you wish to change to and click ok.

If you are using preview version of Office then you have a Smiley on the top right hand side of the application, you may click on it and send in your feedback.

    Hi gsteriVill,

    1st prize would be to have a listed theme that changes the color of the background, to black. People want what they had before and there are thus far, two methods to achieve it by means of "tacky" workarounds.

    Even though Marc confused me telling Nick that the new Black theme will be available to "O365 customers", I still think that it would be available to Office2016 (Non-365) as well.  

    The verdict is still out on whether the new color scheme(which will include the new black theme) will apply to Office2016 only or whether it will be made available to Office2013 as an update.

    don't bother buying office 2016 unless you really need it. the color schemes are the same, except no light gray the color is only the ribbon bar on the top,  the backgrounds now are only 2 white and dark gray. even worse than office 2013. it's really hard to work with on your even normal eyes.

    maybe we should change the thread name

    Hi All,

    Update on my comment on 14th September above....

    The "Theme development" is out of the "Development" phase and moved on to the "Rolling Out" Phase. By visiting the link I shared in that comment, see the "MORE INFO" button. When visiting that Office Blog, you need to scroll down quite a bit in the comments section, to find "Theme" related information which is related to our problem. Search for "theme" to find the particular comments.
