Change Background color Theme Office 2013

Office 2013 is hurting my eyes even after choosing dark grey, it's not dark or really grey at all.   How do I get the office colors like the ones I enjoyed with Off 2010?  I am having to squint all the time & what used to be instant recognition is now taking time to decipher past the bright screen.   It's not right to charge me money to take conveniences away from your loyal customers.   How do I fix this & quick before I go blind?

I have already tried what Microsoft is inaccurately calling dark.    It's not dark at all & can hardly even be called grey.   The result is the screen stays overly bright, is hard to focus on, & is decreasing my productivity in stead of being an improvement that my money should have bought.

It's not at all hard to fix this in an update!    It is so irritating, I will even pay a 3rd party to give me a screen that's no uncomfortable to my eyes.   If not, how do I get my money back & re-install my Off 2010 copies?

But, first, if you don't have a solution for this problem, then,  I would like you to give me an honest answer as to why Microsoft doesn't care about your customers discomfort?

However, the three options are far too limited. Most of the background surface remains bright white. This isn't working. Also I doubt that it is healthy. After 30 minutes of work with this new white screen, I already have a penetrating headache. We must have the option to adjust our own color schemes, brightness, etc..

Is it possible to do something about this asap?

I'm also amazed how long it's been going.  And I'm the who started it!

I used to work for MS for 10 years up until the "Great Talent Extinction of 2009".  For all those years it amazed me how much the concept of "We know better" and "We're making life better for people" permeates the corporate culture.  Adding minor enhancements to products and then touting them as "Revolutionary" is beyond comprehension.  I never did "fit" in with that mindset.  Steve Balmer once came to talk to my group (IT Finance) in 2008 and was questioned by one member "Do you worry at all about the Apple 'Mac vs PC' ads on TV?  He replied "When they have more than a 1% market share, talk to me".  Famous last words.

Until it can be shown to the brown-nosing executive management that people will start switching to the competition because it "looks better", there will be no change.  I was once shown a minor bug in Office Word that had existed for over a decade.  It would take about 1 man-day to fix and test.  Yet after 10 years, it was still there.  MS long knew about it but as with the culture "We're too big to concern ourselves with fixing minor bugs. We're too busy working on enhancement to make everyone's life better", it won't ever enter their mindset to address it.

I absolutely agree that Dark Gray is not Dark enough. Gray on white is harder to read than black on white!!! Why does Microsoft only give us variations of dim gray colors for the menu options or other options?  Who was the bright person who decided that gray was easier to read than black and that we should have no other choice than variations of gray?  Gray is depressing, it was the standard color to represent DIMed inactive controls, it offers less contrast, and is harder to read.
