Does anyone have the fix to the following:  Activation for Office 2013 Excel, Word etc.

How do you want to activate your software?

  • I want to activate the software over the internet. (recommended)

Here is the error: Microsoft Excel

We're sorry, something went wrong and we can't do this for you right now. Please try again later. (0x80070005)

thanks

David

Hi David,

In case you haven't already found the solution right click on Excel 2013 (or any other Office 2013 application) and select 'Run as Administrator' then follow the steps to activate online

Regards

Mark

    Hi David,

I am an IT professional and I had the same issue and I just followed the solution of Mr. Mark in the thread and it worked...

Thanks Mark and thanks David for posting a question that made it easy for me to find a solution

"Right click on any of the office applications and click "Run as Administrator" and then try activating through the internet" and it will surely work

    Mark,

Your solution of right-click run as admin worked for me...what do you think about the permission issue there?

    Hi Mark,

When I right click on one of the programs (outlook, word) I can run as administrator but I am not sure where to go from there to activate the software over the internet.  Thanks for your help!

Hold down the Shift key and the right click to get the Run as Admin option.

Did that, and the activation window then completed the activation, instead of failing on the x8007005 error.

    Thanks for the tip.

MSFT - it is this kind of obnoxious hassle that makes people hate you.  Wise up.  This should have been fixed long ago.
