Does anyone have the fix to the following:  Activation for Office 2013 Excel, Word etc.

 How do you want to activate your software?

  • I want to activate the software over the internet. (recommended)

Here is the error: Microsoft Excel

Hi David,

In case you haven't already found the solution right click on Excel 2013 (or any other Office 2013 application) and select 'Run as Administrator' then follow the steps to activate online

    For the record... this worked like a charm!  Thanks for the post.  

    However, it's ridiculous that this is the fix, user's should be able to register their Office product without admin permissions.  Also, all the KB articles don't mention this as an action to take.

    I agree particularly considering that the user is a local administrator.    This issue does not occur when logged on as local or domain Administrator or if UAC is disabled.
