Hi David,

In case you haven't already found the solution right click on Excel 2013 (or any other Office 2013 application) and select 'Run as Administrator' then follow the steps to activate online

Regards

Mark

    Hi John,

Hold down the shift key and then right click.

This should give you the run-as option.

    Good luck,

    Victor

    Mark,

I am experiencing the same problem.  This is on a standalone (no domain network) laptop.  It has Windows 7 Professional for the OS.  There is only one user set up, which was created by default when Win 7 was installed.  It is an administrator account.

When I right click an Office program, there is no "run as administrator" option, probably because I am already an administrator level user.

Given these circumstances, what else should I do?

    Thanks very much.

    John

I just did an install and did not see these bits.

New install of Windows 7 and Office Home & Business 2013 on July 28, 2014.

Used the Click to Run install and I received the listed error message when trying to activate.

Using Run As option fixed the problem.

Thanks to Mark's post from over a year ago, I was able to activate.

    Just noting for the record.
