Installing Office 2007 on Windows 8 system

I have Office 2007 and have purchased new computer  operating Windows 8. Will Office 2007 work? I have discs with product key. Am I better off purchasing Office 2010 or installing Office 2007 and upgrading to Office 2010 on the new computer?

If you do have a "retail" type license, it will allow you to install on up to 2 machines at the SAME time (3 for home and student).  In that case all you have to do is install and activate on the new machine. 

Do the disks include term "Backup" in the title? It is possible to have an OEM installation and Official "Backup" installation disks.

There is no price discounted "upgrade" version to 2010 like there was up to and including 2007 that required a "qualifying" earlier application to install.  All 2010 licenses are standalone.  So, if you intend to end up with 2010, you might as well skip installing 2007 and go directly to 2010.

If you can install and activate 2007 you might as well use it. The differences between 2007 and 2010 for a single user are very limited. If you haven't needed them up to now, you probably don't need them. Most of the changes in 2010 focused on "collaboration", allowing more than one user to edit the file at the same time.

There are a couple of advantages to buying Office 2010 right now. I have seen it offered price discounted to get rid of stock before 2013 is released. I have seen 2010 Home and Student retail licenses as low as US$80 offered online (down from US$140).

The other advantage of buying 2010 right now is that you will almost certainly qualify for the 2013 "Pre-Launch offer".  You can get a "free" copy of Office 2013 when it comes out. Depending on which 2010 bundle you buy you can get a local install 1-computer 2013 license, or 3-12 month Office 365 subscriptions.

    You can copy the WHOLE installation disk to USB, then from USB to your notebook then run setup.exe

    Or you can try downloading the correct installation file from one of these links:

    Followed your instructions, there were no other versions of Office installed.

    Restarted my computer, inserted the disc and followed the prompts...

    Error 1935

    Another solution

    My TrustedInstaller.exe / service was not missing but it was not working.  Start the service.

    I found this because:

    1.when I use “sfc /scannow” it replies “Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service”

    1. I could not start “Windows Modules Installer” in “services.msc”, it replies “Error:126”

    I found an solution online:

    I edited the registry and had solved the problem

    I Opened “C:\Windows\servicing\Version\” and found out that the folder name is “6.1.7601.17592”

    then I opened “C:\Windows\winsxs\” to find the folder that starts with”amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_” followed by the version “6.1.7601.17592”.

    so I found 

    “amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17592_none_672ce6c3de2cb17f”

    I opened Regedit => HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\

    I added a new key called “version”, and under “version” I added a Expandable Value

    Name = “6.1.7601.17592”

    Value = “amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17592_none_672ce6c3de2cb17f”

    after reboot I started  “Windows Modules Installer” in “services.msc” and it worked, then I also tried the command “sfc /scannow” and it also worked.

    **1****.**Edit the Registry

    • Type "regedit" in the "Search for programs and files" box. 
    • Wait for "regedit.exe" to display in the list 
    • Right-Click on the file, and select "Run As Administrator"

    **2****.**Increase the RegistrySizeLimit key

    • Browse to: 

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ 

    • Right Click on "RegistrySizeLimit" and select "Modify" 
    • In the "Value Data" box, enter "ffffffff" (without the quotes) 

    (that's 8 - f's) 

    • Click OK, and close the Registry Editor

    I had the same problem with Office 2007 installation on Windows 8.1.

    My laptop was brand new.  I had created a single (admin) account with the recommended "Microsoft Account" (as opposed to local account, which was shown as "not recommended").

    After many attempts and always getting this 1935 error, I decided to add a second admin account, but this time, as a "local account".

    The Office 2007 installation went without a glitch.  PROBLEM SOLVED! (at least for me)

    So I have a lenovo and it doesn't have a slot thing to put the CD in and I was going to try and install Microsoft Office 2007 through the website on the paper that came with the product key and the website is no longer available.. What should I do?
