"Microsoft Word has stopped working" when I close the program

I installed Office 2013. 

All programs launch and work OK.

When I close Excel and Word, I get a message that "Microsoft Word has stopped working."

Word then looks for a solution.

Sometimes it restarts, sometimes it shuts down.

Outlook sometimes shuts down while open.

I then get a message that "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working,"

Outlook then looks for a solution.

Sometimes it restarts, sometimes it shuts down.

I have disabled all add ons. I have uninstalled and re-installed 2013.

What do I try next?

I called Microsoft technical support (800-642-7676).

The friendly technician tracked the problem to a conflict with a NVIDIA driver from my video card.

The offending driver was: NVWGF2UM.DLL

The technician renamed it: NVWGF2UM.old

She left everything else the same.

I am still using the PNY NVIDIA GeForce 210 Graphic Card in Windows 7 pro and I am having no problem with any program in the Office 2013 suite.

She found the problem driver in the event log.

But do not install any future video card driver updates. The offending driver will be reinstalled.

    **Method 3:**1)Open any office application.

    2)Open file-->options--Advance.

    3)Disable Hardware Acceleration.

    After a year of searching and trying, this finally worked. Thank you to whomever came up with this.

    This could be a bigger problem with other printers/scanners. Don't know if the companies know what is happening. I just did a research on ABBYY Fineprinter. It is designed to convert scanned paper documents into Microsoft Word so that it can be edited. The page I read says it is compatible with Windows 8/8.1. However, it isn't as there were other people here with the same problem. Think I will notify Microsoft so they can put it in there solutions recommendations. Took me three days trying to figure what was going on. Could not open previous documents I have. Soon as I found the Community I got the problem solved thru you.

    Thanks, Doug.  I was getting the "has stopped working" error on ALL Office 2013 apps.  I removed Abbyy Finereader  and every thing is working.  Never used Abbyy Finereader anyway - it installed when installed software for my Epson Workforce 545 printer.

    When I removed the PCIe video card and used VGA video port on the mother board, the Office 2013 problem stopped.

    When I reinstalled the PCIe video card, the problem srated again.

    So there appears to be a conflict between the video card and Office 2013.

    I'm using the PNY NVIDIA GeForce 210 Graphic Card.

    Windows 7 pro.

    Any suggestion?
