How to change the theme of Office 2013

What other internet or software company has gone to basically gray and black with their user interface? None that I know of. So is Microsoft really staying up with best practices, and what the consumer wants? Eventually consumers will start looking for other alternatives, and another company will come up with a smarter and more friendly user experience, and they will start loosing customers.

Windows 8/10 and Office 2013 are AWFUL! The graphics, if you can even call them that, look like a bunch of preschoolers designed them! I feel like I've gone back to Windows 2! I have a high end computer with cutting edge software so I can enjoy using it AND do my job. I like to do that with 3D graphics and images that are easy on my eyes and make looking at it for 10 plus hours a day enjoyable.

Thanks to Microsoft they have put a strain on my eyes and taken the joy out of using their software. I absolutely hate Window 8/10 and Office 2013! They had it so right with windows 7 then a group of idiots took over and destroyed it all! Personally I hope sales are so bad they redesign a better 3D high quality graphics OS and Office.

For the first time I'm seriously thinking abut moving to Apple or Linux!

MS Office is useless to me.  I can not see anything on this washed out screen.  This new computer is going back.

This is stupid and foolish of MS to put out such **** and expect people to tolerate you as a company.

This should be a crime.   I think that it is a crime You certainly are not helping the handicapped as required by law.  I am going to sue you.

Everybody should get together and destroy Microsoft.  They think that they can put out anything and people will use it because it is there.  Then they will make your older software obsolete by no longer supporting it and force you to buy the new ****. 

It is time to destroy Microsoft and get some competition in the computer business.  Their has been no competition since Microsoft destroyed Word Perfect and Lotus 123 with their lies and deception.

I agree with you, Lindy, that Micro$oft are arrogant and oblivious to customer satisfaction. And you are right that that attitude is engendered by a lack of competition. 

You could, however, go to Open Office. It's free, and while it doesn't have the elaborate enhancements that Micro$oft feels compelled to add to each new version, it does perform ALL the basic and not-so-basic functions that any normal user needs 99.9% of the time. And the interface is user friendly.

I just wish that, after DECADES of existence, Micro$oft Word didn't still have conniptions with complicated documents. Headers and footers especially are almost impossible to stabilize if you have many sections in the same doc and headers and footers that change with each section.

Put more than one graphic on a page in Word and beware.  Put 2 or 3 on a page and 2 or 3 on following pages and it's like trying to juggle 9 balls at once. These are the things they should concern themselves with rather than occupying their Office developers with destroying a reasonably adequate user interface.

Micro$oft could argue that, if you want to do complicated docs, you should do them in Publisher, but clerical staff are not layout artists. They generally are happy to know how to use Word, even if it is challenging to use when the boss says, "Hey, can you embed this spreadsheet in the report?" (That's a function that's been around for 20 years or more, but it's still just as quirky as the first time I tried it.)

And as I am having a good whinge, how on earth could anyone decide that functions that had always been reached by one click or keyboard shortcuts should now be several clicks away?! How can they think that's an improvement?!

Or are they just laughing their socks off and mumbling, "SUCKERS!"
