You can change the theme in Office by clicking File > Account page in any Office product with the exception of Outlook. In Outlook, Click File > Office Account to change the theme.

There are three themes available in Office 2013:

White - Default

Light Gray

Dark Gray

Very disappointed in the lack of themes in Office 2013. Overall Office 2013 seems to be bland.

Is this an attempt to adhere to the "minimalist" fad?

Horrible. Back to 2010 also. Including Visio and Project... a waste.

They still need to add a black theme as soon as possible (or change the light gray theme to the current dark gray theme and extremely darken the current dark gray theme). They should also add some themes with color to go hand in hand with Windows 8, or add an option for Office to match your system's window color that is set in Personalization.

Hear, hear!  There really needs to be a dark (i.e., white-on-black instead of black-on-really-light-grey) theme, and matching the user's color settings from Personalization (Windows 8) ought to be a no-brainer.

ALT-Tabbing from Visual Studio's comfortable dark theme to Outlook's blinding white brilliance is jarring enough that it sent me on a ten-minute web search and compelled me to comment here.  I can't be the only one losing productivity through this - how do the Outlook developers handle it? ;)

I'm not about to revert to 2010 (that would be a huge waste of time, and I like the 2013 UI much better overall), but I may consider temporarily switching to another email client until this is addressed.  I'm sure Thunderbird will be more cooperative. :P

If anybody finds any 3rd-party apps or skin that change the theme color for Office 2013, please post !  Can't find any yet.  I don't expect Microsoft to move anytime soon ; as they received tons of complaints already since day 1 and all they can provide is a "dark gray" that is almost white.

The "Black" theme in 2010 was just perfect.   Wish i could reproduce it.

In the meantime kept 2010 installed along with 2013, and still using 2010 primarily.
