You can change the theme in Office by clicking File > Account page in any Office product with the exception of Outlook. In Outlook, Click File > Office Account to change the theme.

There are three themes available in Office 2013:

White - Default

Light Gray

Dark Gray

Just a final note to say that I resolved the theme issue. I uninstalled 2013 and went back to 2010. Wish I can get a refund; this version lasted less than a regrettable hour, I had to go back because come Monday for work, I cannot imagine staring into this glaring and overly bright theme for the entire day in between all the applications and tasking among them.

This is regrettable. The team that decided on releasing this version with this crappy theme wasted everyone's efforts in putting together what is probably a wonderful and awesome upgrade. These nice folks should be reassigned to other lower risk tasks and away from anything to do with product enhancements that are customer facing. They have no clue.

    Respectfully.

As a follow up, the theme selected applies to all the apps except Access which remains white washed even when in Options "Dark Gray" is selected. This is a bug, a flaw.

Hi, the theme choices in 2013 are totally insufficient, I just installed 2013 and right away found this limitation very hard to work with. I'm in this product suite the whole day and this will be very uncomfortable to work with, this MUST be revamped to allow for user personalization. Very disappointed.

I think the dev team for Office 365/2012 stole the color scheme from DOS Shell.

.....Only DOS Shell let you change its colors.
