You can change the theme in Office by clicking File > Account page in any Office product with the exception of Outlook. In Outlook, Click File > Office Account to change the theme.

There are three themes available in Office 2013:

White - Default

Light Gray

Dark Gray

Oh, man...you don't know the half of it. They're creating a nightmare for SMBs by off-loading their inability to competently program a GUI for their server products onto already strained IT staffs by switching over to a command line environment. DOS had something like 130-+ commands ... Which was a pain to memorize. A couple years ago, they "celebrated" having created 500 commandlets in Powershell. Apparently under the belief that we have nothing better to do than sit around and memorize all this crap for the occasional server emergency.

And don't even get me started on why they didnt release Windows 8 with a Start button (it was a scam to jump-start their apps market which is a segment of the ITscape they were getting their butts kicked in....oh. they still are.)

Or the so-stupid-it's-funny incompetence of the on-screen tablet keyboard........

Or any one of 20 other things that seem designed to put me in an early grave.

its 2017 and the same problem exists ?!

Office 365 is drab and awful.

This is like when MS release Win8 with no start menu.

Who makes decisions at this company ??

Four years.  Nothing.  I think it's pretty clear this is a lost cause.

    I've been using Office Access for many years. 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016.

2003 will always be my favorite UI, a very easy-to-stare-at dark gray, rounded window edges, thick window borders, table/query/form/macro object names that actually HIGHLIGHT when you arrow-key through them with the keyboard. It was wonderful.

When I had to make the painful UI jump from 2003 to 2007, it wasn't easy, but I got through it.

The hard part was writing a replacement GO TO FIELD feature, learning the Navigation Pane and the Ribbon Bar.

But I am helpless with 2013,2016.  Too WHITE.  Too BRIGHT.  In Office 2013, the White / DarkGray / LightGray selections have no affect whatsoever Access.  In Office 2016, the Color themes only affect the top-most header, everything else is still a snowstorm.

Microsoft will never fix the brightness problem in Access. The mitigation is,

    1. turn screen brightness down to zero, turn screen contrast down as low as you can stand it.
    2. create and always leave open a form called Dark_Form to completely fill the Access desktop with [Back Color] = [System Button Shadow].
    3. Personalization > Change Theme > High Contrast Black.  Hey, it's definitely NOT white!

Here are a few of the complaint links about brightness.  Years of comments. No action. No solution.
