You can change the theme in Office by clicking File > Account page in any Office product with the exception of Outlook. In Outlook, Click File > Office Account to change the theme.

There are three themes available in Office 2013:

White - Default

Light Gray

Dark Gray

Well, here we are years after the original complaint and 8 months on from my own about the awful white themes. No response from Microsoft. What have I done ? Invested in a 27 inch iMac 32 gB, 3.5 gHz and all the trimmings. I am now deliberately trying to get away from Microsoft as a stated personal and business policy. I am in my mid-50's, I run 2 small businesses and I have all the standard nuisance health problems you get at 55+ one of which is increasingly poor eyesight. I simply CANNOT use this software with such an anti-social lousy interface. It stinks of ageism. I don't mean to be nasty but it is painfully obvious that nobody over 18 had any input to the design process of those awful themes - at least, nobody over 55 did. I have gone back to Office 2010 running in VMware and got the Apple version of everything else I possibly can. Ok, I know it is going to take a while to completely migrate because I have a lot of VB code in my Office applications but I am a reasonably competent programmer still (eyesight notwithstanding) and I am looking forward to replacing it all with whatever one does on an Apple.

    Date: 5/31/2015

    To: All Microsoft employees

    From: Military Painting, Inc.

Subject: Office painting starts on Monday, all Microsoft buildings

All Microsoft employees should be aware that office hallways, bathrooms, individual offices, conference rooms, lunch rooms, desktops, and windows will be painted this week. You get your choice of white, light gray or dark gray. Please advise or by default the paint crew will use white. Please bring your sunglasses to work on Monday. That is all.
