You can change the theme in Office by clicking File > Account page in any Office product with the exception of Outlook. In Outlook, Click File > Office Account to change the theme.

There are three themes available in Office 2013:

White - Default

Light Gray

Dark Gray

Thank you for the feedback on Office’s new look. We are actively collecting, sorting and reading through feedback on Office 2013’s design and User Experience. As the audience for Office 2013 grows, we are being mindful of patterns and pain points that emerge from user feedback. While we do not have any additional Themes planned at this time, it is an issue we are watching very closely.

More than two years on now and I was just forced to upgrade to 2013 (by an over-eager admin). Needless to say, nothing has been done about the "themes". This is what happens when a company becomes so powerful that they have no need to compete in the marketplace.

"Customer satisfaction? Fooey! What do we care? Just keep feeding them occasional customer support BS and keep crushing any competition with unfair business practices and they'll have to keep buying our products! MWAH HA HA HA HAAAAAAA!"

Really, Microsoft, this product's user interface is a giant step backwards. Added to all the functions in Office you had already made (in 2010) 2 or 3 steps away instead of the one it used to take, I honestly can't figure out what you think you're doing. Please fix this attitude and understand that what people living in the information bubble of the Microsoft campus think is cool is quite likely unrelated to what the average user will find acceptable.

    More themes! More personalization!

Have you found ANYONE who likes these lousy color schemes???????????????  I agree with Michael.  The

lack of color is mentally numbing and hurts my eyes.  You have so many brilliant people working on various MS products.  How was it possible to get something this stupid even started?  Not being so brilliant myself, I can clearly see that someone want to add this TERRIBLE scheme if they enjoyed punishing themselves but WHY was it necessary to eliminate EVERY other option???

Just to throw in my two cents... these three options are lousy.  I can repeat every other person's complaint on this thread... horrible, horrible, horrible... there is simply not enough distinct color variation between the white and grey... Here's a novel thought, make the gray - BLACK!
