You can change the theme in Office by clicking File > Account page in any Office product with the exception of Outlook. In Outlook, Click File > Office Account to change the theme.

There are three themes available in Office 2013:

White - Default

Light Gray

Dark Gray

I just upgraded from 2010 to 2013 with high hopes and without really reading any of the comments about 2013 in advance. I thought something was wrong with the download or that the background/theme simply didn't apply at first. The GUI is disappointing to say the least. The colors of 2010 were much better.

Using a larger monitor, the blazing white is killing my eyes. I use Office programs all day long and can't imagine staying with 2013 if there is no fix. Even after switching to the dark grey, it is still appaling.

Even the fonts don't seem to render correctly.

    Please fix this!

The problem I have with all of those themes is that the text is still gray resulting in low-contrast strain on the user eyes.  I intend to revert back to Office 2010 today of that very reason.  Would you read a paper book with gray text?  Probably not for very long.  It just does not make sense.

    Greetings

Has anyone found the registry key or a setting in OCT to select the light grey Office Theme as default when deploying ?

    Thank you
