You can change the theme in Office by clicking File > Account page in any Office product with the exception of Outlook. In Outlook, Click File > Office Account to change the theme.

There are three themes available in Office 2013:

White - Default

Light Gray

Dark Gray

The Office 2013 interface is an abomination by definition... "greatly disliked or abhorred ", "

    intense aversion or loathing; detestation."

Either no contrast or too much contrast; devoid of color; devoid of any visual separation or depth..

Who thinks that, under normal roomlight, a medium-blue highlight over skinny medium-grey type on a medium-medium grey background is at all visible (much less when the sun is streaming in floor-to-ceiling office windows)?

Of course the ribbon hasn't gotten any better... and why, in the reading pane, does the message just disappear into white? How about some indication of separation between the header and the message?

Thanks Michael.  I am aware of that.  However, the three themes available are  all pale and very bland.  More contrast is what I would like to see back in Office. Cheers.

I've updated our three home PCs to Office 2013 (365). While I like the programs, the lack of contrast on any of the three 'themes' is appalling. They are all extremely hard to read and I find working in Word or Publisher for any length of time results in serious eyestrain.

Hopefully, some third pary will find a way to create themes that make this otherwise great product usable. I'm tempted to dig out my old Office 2007 installation CDs and get rid of Office 365 - too bad I paid for a years subscription.

Microsoft, please LISTEN TO YOUR USERS! (BTW, I know all caps is annoying - that's the point. So are the Office 365 theme choices.)
