Download the MergeTools – 20120609 Add-in that I created from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=5aedcb43615e886b#cid=5AEDCB43615E886B&id=5AEDCB43615E886B%21111

and also the Mail Merging with Charts document that is also on that page.  That document explains how you must set up the Excel Data Source and the Mail Merge Main document to be able to execute a merge with a Chart that is unique to each record in the data source.

    Dear Doug,

I am using your guide and word add-in to produce letters incuding a chart. Everything seems to be working fine until the chart merge occurs.

Here's what i am doing in my test files:

    1. 'Data' sheet: Simple 3 row table containing merge items (mainly dates) and of course including the data for the chart
    2. 'Chart' sheet: Set up as instructed so when i change the number in cell B3 the data/chart changes etc.
    3. In my word doc - i have set up word so it keeps the excel cell 'formats'
    4. Perform a normal 'Letters' merge with the basic merge fields (mainly dates)
    5. Preview it all and it looks fine (correct formats from excel)
    6. Carry out the 'Chart Merge' as per your add-in ribbon
    7. All seems to work and it produces 3 word documents to the specified folder

The problem is when i inspect the letters we have the following problems:

    1. The formats have been lost in the dates e.g. in excel it shows as 01-Sep-2014, but in the letter the format seems to a reverted back to the basic 1/9/2014
    2. The 1st letter contains the correct chart
    3. the second letter contains the correct chart but also includes the 1st record chart as well - so 2 charts
    4. The third letter contains the correct chart but also includes the 1st record chart as well and also the second record chart - so 3 charts

Not sure what i'm doing wrong but would be extremely grateful for you help!

    Many thanks

    Edwin Alexanian

If you send me the data source and the mail merge main document that you are using, I will investigate the issue.
