The "edit wrap points" in Publisher 2013 don't seem to work. Is there a solution?

Other than cropping, I was able to use edit wrap points to edit pictures to get just a portion of the object.  How does this work in Publisher 2013?

Unless the freehand shape is an option, the function has not evolved well. **In previous versions, the portion of the image outside of the wrap points was not visible.**This is a function I use daily and will have to find an alternative now.

This is so aggravating! I am taking Pubilsher for a class, to fill an elective for school, and I am trying to use the wrap text function to modify a picture for an assignment and cannot. I am being graded on a function that  I cannot access, even though my textbook says I can use this function (yes it is for 10 but the instructor said I could use it, and research on the book said it would work fine for my purposes). I was shocked when stumbling on this site trying to find an answer on how to rectify this problem, and found that it has been a year and still no fix or patch or update or ANYTHING! Also there is no freehand draw for shapes as was stated earlier in this blog. When I plug in a shape my only option is to edit shape and choose "edit wrap points" and we are back at the same problem or to change the shape. I wish I didn't choose the new version when RE-PURCHASING this product. For student usage this new version (all around) has been very disappointing.

Yes, you're correct. No fix from Microsoft as of this date for Publisher 2013 re: wrap points. Can you get access to Publisher 2010 (wrap points work there, but shadows do not). I gravitate from one to the other (2010 and 2013) depending upon my need.  Also, if you're doing something for print, better to use 2010 that has auto selection for CMYK color (2010 does not- only RGB colors). (If you're using 2010 and need shadows, create them in 2013, save as picture, then insert into your 2010 pub.) Sorry, it IS miserable, and the only way I deal with it, is using both editions. (Don't let Microsoft tell you can't use both -- that it will cause problems -- I have and use both programs resident on your computer -- I NEVER have any problems with it.) They're still nice fast programs, so I still like them and use them almost every day for pubs I need to produce. I think you can pick up a 2010 standalone package boxed fairly reasonably if you try Google shopping or check around. I'm sorry you're having problems. Good luck to you.

My case has resulted in the problem being dropped into the MS developers' work queue, and they triage. Because of this, I can't stress enough to EVERYONE having this problem with Publisher 2013 the importance of calling in and going on record to report the problem as a bug. Even if your Publisher 2013 is out of warrantee for free support, you still won't be charged for reporting it as a bug. The important thing is to try and get a Case Number for your report and don't let them close the Case Number (leave it open until the issue is resolved). Also when I called, I had to try and get level 2 support b/c level 1 simply told me it doesn't work anymore and tried to get me off the phone. I called back and then spoke with level 2 tech who spent a great deal of time working with level 3 support testing the hotfix and determining it doesn't work for MS either. At this point, they reported it to the developers in a meeting they had that day and also sent background details and videos to them. But, as I said, it's in the developers' queue and they triage.

The support number for reporting the Edit Wrap Points and Edit Points malfunction in Publisher 2013 is 800-642-7676. Ask for a supervisor if you need to. Thanks everyone!

6/24/13 Update on EDIT WRAP POINTS IN PUBLISHER 2013 PROBLEM:

Today I received a call from the technical support person who worked on the Edit Wrap Points problem for me and reported it to tier 3 support and to the developers. The developers have issued it an ID number -- "BUG ID #58145". The Bug is being corrected and the fix will be downloaded to computers as an automatic Windows Update (office security update, specifically) as soon as it is available -- not certain how soon -- perhaps within a month or so.

If it wasn't for the tenaciousness, thoroughness and great follow-through of the tech support person who helped me, this Bug-fix would not be happening. I've written to Microsoft about this superstar.

Called November 01-2013 and was told the bug has not been fixed and they are still working on it.. Rep insisted he was level 2 support .. but who even knows '_'

Apparently the fix will be included in a windows update.

I don't feel any better after the call... after I purchased this software ONLY for the edit wrap feature.. guess I should have googled before I purchased.. but who would even image they would ditch something so convenient.

Thanks so much for calling. Programmers triage, the more calls, the higher the job priority. Works like that in any company. Hopefully, MS will receive more reports.

OPTIONS: 2013 publisher has issues, including elimination of CMYK commercial print colors setting (astonishing to me and greatly impacts my work because I do print a lot). I kept 2010 Publisher (doesn't do shadows correctly due to program flaw never fixed) and select appropriate version to use for the job I am doing. I'm going to start looking at NON-Adobe publishing software (Adobe Indesign is no longer an option for me due to Adobe hackers getting my logins and credit card info in October 2013 plus the institution of the Adobe "Creative Cloud" (CC) subscription-only software) see http://forums.adobe.com/message/5780617). I'm going to start with reviewing Quarkxpress and Corel draw, but, let's face it, Publisher is very fast and convenient. You can generate a graphic in nothing flat, which I have to do regularly for my job.

I appreciate your calling, though. It was important to report it. And, as I mention, the more reports called in, the better.
