How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    Hello Greg,

    While it was good of you to explain how to "anchor" a Shape, I note that the procedure requires quite a few actions, plus also some "fiddling".

    Allow me express my personal dismay at people having to through all that, just in order to "simulate" a colour strikethrough, and only in just one place; a function which most people might reasonably expect Microsoft to provide in a somewhat more sensible manner.

    In 2003 in Microsoft Word add a blank page below your working document and keep your cursor on that blank page and then enable your toolbar ­Drawing and go to AutoShapes and chooseLines and (pick) line. And what you will see on your blank page is a large text box saying to CREATE YOUR DRAWING HERE. Outside of that text box or below, draw your line and the large text box will go away, then you can Format your AutoShape line to any shape, color, size or copy/paste, and move to over the sentence you are trying to Strikethrough. PRINTING: Before Printing - Check your File/Print Preview and if your strikethrough lines don’t show up in the Print Preview mode, your new Strikethrough lines will not print out. And-If-That-Is-So, From your main toolbar chooseTools/Options/Print/and (checkmark) Drawing objects and Check yourFile/Print Preview before printing. Hope this helps?
