How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    That is a good idea. If you create a new suggestion there, or find an existing one to vote for, post the link back here in a reply for everyone else to add their votes to it. The more votes, the better the chances MS will at least consider the suggestion.

    In some industries it is necessary to "red-line" changes that are to be made in a "controlled" document.  It would be most useful to have this function because now, I need to print the document and use a red ink pen to "red-line" the necessary changes.

    What if you're crossing out items in an electronic list but want to differentiate with color between items which are completed and items which you'd decided will not be completed...just because you haven't had a use for it doesn't deem it nonsense.
