microsoft word starter 2010 won't open

I was just using it, then I went to re-open for my daughter and a box appears saying microsoft word starter cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in control panel. Well i went to control panel under programs chose the program and clicked change, it still didnt work. Does anyone know whats going on? and or how i can get it to work?

This just happened to me.

Basically:

  1. open the control panel
  2. choose programs & features
  3. right click on Microsoft Office Starter edition
  4. select change
  5. Say "yes" to repairing the app.

    This worked for me.

    Happened to be an adobe update. Unbeknownst to me how these two are related?

    I have followed steps 1-5 above and it tells me it can't repair as I'm not connected to the internet, which I obviously am. I have tried uninstalling the starter, but when I click on Microsoft office to reinstall it, there are only 2 options: "activate" or "purchase". There is no "use" option.

    This just happened to me.

    After following this it said it could not complete because there was not an internet connection . I checked 

    it there was. I repeated the process a few times and same response help. My files are locked in there !
