microsoft word starter 2010 won't open

I was just using it, then I went to re-open for my daughter and a box appears saying microsoft word starter cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in control panel. Well i went to control panel under programs chose the program and clicked change, it still didnt work. Does anyone know whats going on? and or how i can get it to work?

This just happened to me.

Basically:

  1. open the control panel
  2. choose programs & features
  3. right click on Microsoft Office Starter edition
  4. select change
  5. Say "yes" to repairing the app.

    Is it happening only with word or other applications also?

    Start word using the winword /a switch:-

    1.    Click on start->run.

    2.    Type “Winword /a” (without the quotes).

    3.    Click on.

    4.    Note the space between winword and “/”.

    If word opens without any error message then follow method 1,2 and 3 from the article below to reset word to its initial settings:-

    It is happening with Excel starter and Windows Live Email as well.

    I'm getting the same problem right now. 

    A few minutes ago, It was working just fine and all of a sudden I get the same error message "Try again or repair the product in control panel"

    notification even says that It could not connect to windows something... Asking me to check my internet connection.
