microsoft word starter 2010 won't open

I was just using it, then I went to re-open for my daughter and a box appears saying microsoft word starter cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in control panel. Well i went to control panel under programs chose the program and clicked change, it still didnt work. Does anyone know whats going on? and or how i can get it to work?

This just happened to me.

Basically:

  1. open the control panel
  2. choose programs & features
  3. right click on Microsoft Office Starter edition
  4. select change
  5. Say "yes" to repairing the app.

    Hi there,

    I'm experiencing exactly the same problem.  Tried all the possible solutions as well - did the run-winword thing - get error message that winword cant be found.  Tried repairing it in control panel as well.  As soon as I try to open either Word or Excel, I get a message saying that "Word may appear unresponsive temporarily as required files are downloaded", but they never seem to finish downloading...

    Any help would greatly be appreciated!
