microsoft word starter 2010 won't open

I was just using it, then I went to re-open for my daughter and a box appears saying microsoft word starter cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in control panel. Well i went to control panel under programs chose the program and clicked change, it still didnt work. Does anyone know whats going on? and or how i can get it to work?

This just happened to me.

Basically:

  1. open the control panel
  2. choose programs & features
  3. right click on Microsoft Office Starter edition
  4. select change
  5. Say "yes" to repairing the app.

    THIS WORKED FOR ME!!!!

    I had this problem: I went to open Microsoft Starter Word AND Excel but the application would not open, did not even get a message saying do this or do that to solve the issue...

    My solution (which worked): Apply any updates that your computer shows you need.. Restart your computer and try to re-open the application.. Should work!!

    I have followed the instructions,

    Open control panel>programs&features>right click Microsoft Office Starter edition>select change>yes to repairing the app.

    I am then told that word is running, but it's not.?

    Is there something else I can try to remedy this problem and has anyone any ideas on why it happened.

    I have just purchased a brand new laptop and only had it one day.  The same issue is happening to me.  I cannot open word or excel.  I have been through all the processes described above for rectifying the problem and not one of them has worked, so what is the answer please Microsoft.  I cannot even open any word documents now either.  Its driving me nuts.....
