microsoft word starter 2010 won't open

I was just using it, then I went to re-open for my daughter and a box appears saying microsoft word starter cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in control panel. Well i went to control panel under programs chose the program and clicked change, it still didnt work. Does anyone know whats going on? and or how i can get it to work?

This just happened to me.

Basically:

  1. open the control panel
  2. choose programs & features
  3. right click on Microsoft Office Starter edition
  4. select change
  5. Say "yes" to repairing the app.

    I'm getting the same problem right now. 

    A few minutes ago, It was working just fine and all of a sudden I get the same error message "Try again or repair the product in control panel"

    notification even says that It could not connect to windows something... Asking me to check my internet connection.

    I have just fixed this problem on my laptop. I went to the control panel and uninstalled Microsoft Word Starter. I then clicked on the Microsoft Office 2010 icon and it brought up the screen that gave me the option of buying the full program or INSTALLING the starter version. I chose to re-install the starter version and it all works fine again. Hope it works for you.

    It is happening with Excel starter and Windows Live Email as well.
