Office Keeps Re-Installing When I Try To Open Word, Excel...etc.

Everytime  I try to open office 2007, it keeps re-installing the software and takes a good while before it opens. 

This happens for all programs in the suite; excel, word...etc.  I am using Vista, can anyone please help?

Download, install and run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility:

    hey, i'm having the same problem with office 2010

    "I had the same problem and somehow found the answer.  I just installed Office 2010 and noticed that all of the links were in the ProgramData folder, not the Programs folder as they should be.

    Example (bad path) - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office

    Example (good path for 64bit machine) - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14

    I navigated to the good path, and located the application links (ex. WINWORD).  The links will have pictures next to them that look like the icons on your desktop.

    Once I found the good application files, I copied them into the bad path folder (ProgramData).  I just deleted the ones that were already in the bad path, and renamed the good links with the same name as they were.  The computer is looking at the ProgramData folder when you click the program in your Start menu.  By copying the good files into the folder, you're actually adding the correct file that should be there, not the broken link that was installed.

    Thank you  to JimboSlice2424 for this tip. I have not yet followed it through to it's conclusion but what i have done is to create shortcuts on the desktop from the exe files in Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office12, for each of the parts of Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, OneNote). These open immediately from the shortcuts with no fuss and provided I open a blank document and access the file that i want through the Open command from that document I have no trouble. This is the easy way to make use of that advice without having to change the Program Data Files which I am a bit tentative about - not being very well up on computers. It will certainly do me for now and I may try the full solution at a later date.

    I have figured out how to resolve the issue with Visio 2007 walking through the configuration process at each launch. Open the registry (not necessary to be an admin or to elevate). Navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application

    Open the RegistrationFlags value and change it to 0x0.

    Problem solved.

    How did you fix the problem? I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, and I still have no fix. PS, I am using Win7.
