Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    Mozilla Thunderbird is working great for me- it is just how Outlook Express used to be. I am keeping my Hotmail addresses and just importing them into Thunderbird. I am not getting rid of Windows Live mail because it is somehow hooked to Windows Live Moviemaker which I think is great and I want to keep it. But I just never open up Windows Live Mail. Thunderbird is wonderfully simple.

    When I scan photo to email, my windows live mail automatically makes a photo album and this automatically goes to sky drive.  I don't want my files to be uploaded to web.  How do I disable this feature of skydrive?

    The only alternative I can think of now is to scan photo into a file.  Then attach it.  Just so microsoft doesn't get a copy of my photos.

    Skydrive is a pain in the ____, really.  If somebody can teach me how to remove it, it would be like an angel came down from heaven to vanquish the devil.
