Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    I need this solution as well.  I am using Explorer and their is no down load option to save to my computer.  I do have a Gmail account but it is not my primary.  But I am considering moving all of my emails over there so I do not have this issue.

    BTW...To answer your question.  Go under options and select forward mail to another email account and just type in your gmail email address.  It is that easy, it took me a whole 10 seconds.

    Yes, it doesn't work in a smooth way for the program that the vast majority of attachments come in -- Microsoft Word.  I'd vastly prefer to get rid of Skydrive completely as I have yet to determine its value, and seen a lot I don't like about it -- but at this point I'd settle for a simpler way of downloading MS Word attachments.
