Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    Today I resolved Skydrive problem in my Hotmail account. Just follow the and change the setting and save.

    Options (top right corner of Hotmail Window) >  More options ( last of the pull down menu) > Attachment ( under "Writing emails" header) > Select "Always send files as attachments" radio button (second/ middle option from the three) > Save.

    Now back to Hotmail and go ahead like your old hotmail account.

    Hopefully problem is resolved

    I missed ASM's reply when I posted so thanks ASM.

    If it was so simple then why is there 8 pages of questions? Why has nobody mentioned that previously or has the option been added afterwards?

    I had to go to the hotmail account, click on HOTMAIL at the top, OPTIONS to the rght then MORE OPTIONS to finally get to ATTACHMENTS and edit the settings but hopefully it'll be fine now.

    Hi,

    If you do not like to use Skydrive (hotmail's cloud computing for emails) to send word documents as attachments, go to Hotmail options and go to attachments. Select "always send emails as attachments" and save it. Hopefully, this will help.
