Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    Thank you. Just four or five days ago I started having trouble on both my desktop and laptop computers with sending attachments, both photos and documents. Everything automatically reverted to Skydrive, even after I clicked on "send files as attachments only" in the Options section on attachments. I finally deleted Silverlight from both computers this morning and was able to send attachments the old fashioned way. I'm a writer and send lots and lots of documents that do not to be on Skydrive! I was frantic last night and finally was able to send some photos and an article through Yahoo, after the publisher notified me that she could not open anything I sent her through Hotmail via Skydrive. I'm hoping that deleting Silverlight won't cause additional unforseen problems. I don't watch videos online, so won't have a problem with Netflix.

    Go to control panel and uninstall microsoft silverlight - which is the name that skydrive is under, then restart computer and it is no longer on there. I have sent a couple of emails that do not show it, so know  it is okay.
