Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    RUBBISH! Who is "forcing" you to use it? You can use GMail, Yahoo Mail to name two free ones - there are plenty of other mail providers you can use. Mine costs me £2 per year for my own domain name and £8 per year for FIVE mail boxes, which I can either have as POP or IMAP. That's 20p PER WEEK. And it's not ISP-dependent.

    Everyone should remove windows live mail, and send Microsoft a clear message that we ain't taking this BS from them anymore.  I ALWAYS hated Hotmail, and now that I'm FORCED to use it with my ISP, sucks!  I plan to find another BETTER 3rd party email program.  Any suggestions are welcome.  I liked Postbox, but  I can't download my messages from YUP...you guessed it Windows Live.  grrrr...If I can transfer it all Win live will take a trip to F&^% off-ny land.

    hmmm, it did not give me any options. it did not ask me that, it did not ask me anything.... I would tell you what version I am using but it is so complicated I can't even find that (no more "Help" button) I downloaded it yesterday tho. thanx
