Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    Go to control panel and uninstall microsoft silverlight - which is the name that skydrive is under, then restart computer and it is no longer on there. I have sent a couple of emails that do not show it, so know  it is okay.

    Hi thanks for the advice. I too intensely dislike this Skydrive configuration. For my work I really want to be able to save the attachments to my hardrive as I have got a good registry there. When ever I try to do 'save as' my computer seems to lock up. I have done what you have suggested ie uninstall microsoft silverlight and I have also done what someone else suggested and that was to go into options, click on Active View settings and hidden the two options there and yet I am still damn well getting this Skydrive that I hate!! Like many others I dont want to give up my hotmail account if I can resolve this, but it looks as though that is the way it is going, unless someone can come up with a solution?? Please help!!! :-(
