Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    Marvelous, your solution works.  Microsoft seems to have an unwritten policy of changing things that work into things that don't or that need the users to re-learn products. Your solution to this problem worked for me. I can tell you that if there was another OS other than switching to a MAC, I would do it. MS can't seem to leave well enough alone.  If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

    Microsoft  outright refuses to answer any questions in regards to uninstalling skydrive.  Skydrive has adversly affected how my computer operates, it is time consuming and nearly impossible to work with attachments, often my computers just stops responding, and I am hours trying to work with one document. I don't have this kind of time.   I am in the process of moving over to GMAIL. This is a complete invasion of your personal information without your consent. Yep! communisim is slowly creeping in.  

    Next time I buy a computer it will be a McIntosh.

    Hi,

    It a solution that was right in front of my face but I didn't see it until I too became very frustrated. 

    When you view your attachment in Hotmail it may look like you only have one link but you actually have two.  Where the link says "download", click there and you will be able to download.  Note that the download link is just to the left of the size of the attachment.

    Hotmail should make it clearer for all users of Hotmail to download their attachments.
