Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Many thanks, Steve

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

Please help!  I have followed the steps suggested to you - options/active view/hide photos/no etc and it still opens word docs in some silly world word app which means when I click to print, I get a blank page and when I 'save as' - it doesn't save it like a normal word doc, but one that has to load from world word app or similar.  Any ideas?  Many thanks. Sarah

    Hi PCSias

When you see the file in the active view there are actually two options.  If you hover just over the name of the file it is a separate link that will open up with skydrive.  Just below the first link is another link that says download and that will open up just like it did before and you can save it to your local computer.

It is very confusing as I only found this out by clicking clicking on the top link and then on the bottom link.

Note: Do not click on the picture of the document as it will open it up in Skydrive.

Let me know if this works for you.
