Export Project 2010 notes data to Excel

I am trying to export my notes field data from MS Project 2010 to Excel in order to populate other applications.

The problem I have is that the text of the notes has been pasted in from Word and contains carriage returns.

As a result when I export to Excel only the first line of the notes text - up to the first carriage return - will be exported and available in the Excel dump.

I can use a soft return (SHIFT ENTER) to replace the carriage return and can then get  all of the text but formatting is lost and it looks like a garbled mess - not withstanding the effort to manually replace all carriage returns with soft returns throughout ALL (ugh!) of the Project task notes.

Is there a solution to do this without the extreme manual effort and the substandard appearance that results?

If so, please tell, if not, then what do you recommend under the circumstances?

Using an export map or simple copy and paste you will only be able to export Notes field text up to the first 255 characters or first line feed, whichever occurs first. I have a macro that will export the full notes text but unfortunately it will not preserve formatting. If you are interested, contact me at the address below. I will ask some questions.

    No joy huh? Sorry you are having trouble contacting me. I code my e-mail address to avoid spam. Read the encoded address very carefully. One common mistake people might make in decoding the address is to interpret the 7th character as a number. I'll say it again, the 7th character in the address is an alpha, not a numeric. Also note that my address does not end in ".com" or ".net" as most e-mail addresses do. Other than that, just type the address as posted, being sure to eliminate the redundant at and dot.

    If you still can figure it out, try posting your address and I'll contact you. However, you will need to encode your address or the forum server will not display it.
